Amp Pay Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 29, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to Amp Pay ("Amp Pay," "we," "us," or "our"), an application operated by Futarchy Alpha. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about our users ("you") when you use our Amp Pay mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
Amp Pay provides a self-custodial wallet interface for interacting with the Solana blockchain. This means you always maintain control of your cryptographic private keys and digital assets. We never have custody of or control over your funds.
By using our Services, you agree to the collection, use, disclosure, and procedures this Privacy Policy describes. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.
2. The Nature of Blockchain
Please be aware that transactions initiated through Amp Pay are recorded on the Solana blockchain, a public ledger. Information such as your public wallet address, transaction history, and token balances associated with that address are publicly accessible and cannot be erased or hidden by Amp Pay or anyone else. Our Services interact with this public data to display your balances and transaction history within the app.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve our Services. The types of information we collect include:
Information You Voluntarily Provide:
- Contact and Social Identifiers (Optional): To enhance the usability of Amp Pay and allow other users to easily find your wallet address to send you funds, you may choose to provide information such as your email address, phone number, X (formerly Twitter) handle, or other social media identifiers. Providing this information is optional and is used solely for the purpose of facilitating user discovery within the Amp Pay application if you enable such features.
- Feedback and Support: If you contact us for support or provide feedback, we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your communication.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Blockchain Data: As mentioned, your public Solana wallet address and associated transaction data are publicly available on the blockchain. Amp Pay reads this public data but does not store it beyond what is necessary to display it to you within the app session.
- Usage Information: We may collect information about how you interact with our Services, such as features used, access times, app version, device type, operating system, IP address, and crash reports. This information is used for analytics, debugging, improving service performance, and security monitoring. We strive to minimize the collection of personally identifiable information through automated means.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Operate the Services: Displaying your wallet balance and transaction history, facilitating transactions you initiate, and enabling core app functionality.
- To Enable User Discovery (Optional): If you provide contact or social identifiers, we use this information to allow other Amp Pay users to find your public wallet address more easily, based on your preferences.
- To Improve and Maintain the Services: Analyzing usage patterns, diagnosing technical issues, improving user experience, and developing new features.
- To Enhance Security: Monitoring for suspicious activity, preventing fraud, and protecting the integrity of our Services.
- To Communicate With You: Responding to your support requests or feedback.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: Although we are self-custodial, we may need to use certain information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
5. How We Share Your Information
We are committed to protecting your privacy and limit sharing of your information. We do not sell your personal information. Information may be shared in the following circumstances:
- Public Blockchain: Your Solana wallet address and transaction history are inherently public and accessible to anyone observing the Solana blockchain. This is not sharing by Amp Pay, but a fundamental aspect of the technology.
- User-Enabled Discovery: If you provide optional contact or social identifiers and enable discovery features, these identifiers may be searchable by other Amp Pay users to find your public wallet address within the app. You control whether to provide this information and enable this feature.
- Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, analytics, debugging, and customer support. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if we believe it's required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our terms and conditions; to protect the security or integrity of our Services; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Amp Pay, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality arrangements.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no internet or electronic transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Crucially, you are solely responsible for securing your private keys associated with your Solana wallet. Amp Pay never has access to your private keys.
7. Data Retention
We retain the personal information we collect (like optional contact identifiers or support communications) for as long as necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Public blockchain data is permanent and outside our control.
8. Your Privacy Choices
- Optional Information: You can choose not to provide optional information like email, phone number, or social handles. If you do provide it, you may be able to update or remove it through the app's settings, which may affect the user discovery features.
- App Permissions: You can control app permissions (e.g., notifications) through your device's operating system settings.
- Contact Us: You may have certain rights regarding your personal information under applicable data protection laws (e.g., access, correction, deletion). Please contact us using the details below to inquire about these rights. Note that we cannot modify or delete information recorded on the Solana blockchain.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us (e.g., links to block explorers, decentralized applications, or partner websites). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold where applicable by law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in and transferred to countries other than your own, including the United States, which may have different data protection laws. We take steps to ensure that your information receives an adequate level of protection in the jurisdictions in which we process it.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and may provide additional notice, such as through an in-app notification or on our website. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
