Amp Pay FAQ — Key answers
- How do I get started with Amp Pay?
- Download the Amp Pay app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, sign in with your email, and you can immediately start using your digital wallet, earn cash back with the Amp Black Card, and earn yield on your USDC savings.
- How do I get the Amp Black Card?
- The Amp Black Card is a Visa debit card available to verified Amp Pay users in most regions. Request your card through the app — no credit check is required and virtual cards are completely free. Physical cards are also available for purchase in the app.
- How much cash back does the Amp Black Card earn?
- Amp Black Card holders can earn up to 4% cash back on qualifying purchases. Cash back rates and terms are determined by cardholder status and current promotion periods. See getamppay.com/card-promotion-tos for current rates.
- What fees does the Amp Black Card have?
- There are no fees for USD-denominated purchases with the Amp Black Card. There is a 1% fee for non-USD purchases and a flat $0.35 fee for transactions under $15 USD. There are no monthly fees and no annual fees.
- Can I use my Amp Black Card internationally?
- Yes. The Amp Black Card works anywhere Visa is accepted worldwide. You can also send USDC to anyone globally for free through the app.
- How does Amp Pay earn high yield on savings?
- Amp Pay connects to third-party DeFi protocols on the Solana blockchain, such as the Carrot protocol, which generate yield on USDC stablecoins through lending and liquidity provision. Users can earn up to 12% APY on their savings with no account minimums, no monthly fees, and no withdrawal limits.
- Is Amp Pay FDIC insured?
- Amp Pay is a self-custodial wallet, meaning you maintain full control of your private keys and digital assets at all times. Because Amp Pay cannot access your funds, traditional FDIC insurance — which protects against a custodian going bankrupt — is not applicable. Your USDC is held by you, not by Amp Pay.
- Does Amp Pay require a credit check?
- No. There is no credit check required to get the Amp Black Card. Approval is instant for verified Amp Pay users.
